About the Author
David Krasner is Associate Professor of Performing Arts and Head of the Acting Program at Emerson College. He is the coeditor (with Rebecca Schneider) of the University of Michigan Press's Series Theater: Theory/Text/Performance.

Incredibly Comprehensive

Just the introduction alone nearly made my head explode (I haven't wrestled much with Hegel and Schopenhauer since college. Krasner's intro alone is like a master class on theater.) The book itself serves as a valuable resource. I am pretty well versed in the medium, but this book introduced me to many important artists I had never even heard of. This book makes a great addition to any serious library, and is a must read for anyone with an interest in the subject.

As far as theoretical anthologies go, this one isn't that great. Yes, they have a bunch of different theorists in there, but the introductions, and the relevance, to each genre is definitely lacking. I had to buy this book for a class and usually, I keep all of my text books, but couldn't wait to get rid of this one. There are much better anthologies out there. Always try for Norton before buying anything else!
