This is one of my favorite Fool's Gold stories. It has the parts I love and none of the parts I am tired of. I love the town of Fool's Gold. How they help each other, they care about each other and those who need a helping hand. It is a town I would love to live in. Small town in California up the near by mountain is ski lodge.
I have been waiting for Bailey and Kenny's story. You know they were going to wind up together. Kenny is so good with Chloe. Chloe has asked him for help a few times.
Bailey works for Mayor Marsha. She lost her husband two years ago while he was deployed. She has a seven year old.
Kenny works for Score. He was a Pro-football player with his two best friends. He has been hurt in the past and guards his heart.
Chloe is seven and a sweet young girl.
Mayor Marsha asks Kenny to help Bailey feel in for his friend with the Toy drive the seven year old girls want to do. Kenny never agrees but he will help. He is attracted to Bailey but he tells her straight off that he does not date single moms. Bailey likes Kenny but knows she is not skinny like the models he usually dates.
I really like how this is a clean read. That their is not the big break up scene with drinks and male bashing party like most of the books have. I like seeing all the old characters back.
One thing that I did not like was that it was a novella and not long like the other books. Though it does make for a fast short read with a good story.
I was given this ebook to read through Net Galley and Harlequin. In return I agreed to give honest review of Yours for Christmas.

Yours for Christmas by Susan Mallery is the much anticipated romance between retired football player Kenny Scott and single mom Bailey Voss. Fans of the Fool’s Gold series are going to love this sweet and sigh-worthy love story that brings together two favorite characters in this captivating series.
Thrown together working the Fool’s Gold toy drive, Bailey and Kenny enjoy an easy friendship that also includes Bailey’s daughter Chloe. There is also a simmering attraction between them, but Kenny has an ironclad rule that he has no intention of breaking: he does not date single moms. He is upfront with Bailey that he does not want anything more than friendship and although she is disappointed, she understands his position. Of course, it does not take long before they are hanging out together on a fairly regular basis, and their feelings soon go much deeper than friendship.
Bailey has been interested in Kenny for quite some time, but she feels like she has nothing to offer a man who has dated super models and movie stars. Although she cannot help yearning for a little more with him, she is a practical woman and she is happy with his friendship. She steps out of her comfort zone when Kenny invites her to some rather posh events, but Kenny is still the same down to earth man she has always known.
Kenny has a very good reason for not wanting to get seriously involved with Bailey and by extension, Chloe. His fear of getting hurt and some major trust issues are the driving force behind his decision but he does not let that stop him from caring about both Bailey and Chloe. He continues to help Chloe with projects and Christmas shopping for her mom and it goes without saying that this super nice man is first to volunteer to help Bailey when she needs a helping hand. But a sudden realization that his heart is at risk causes Kenny to withdraw from both Bailey and Chloe.
Kenny and Bailey’s relationship slowly evolves from their friendship but most of their interactions include their mutual friends and Chloe. The gradual shift in emotions is believable given their longstanding acquaintance and various encounters from earlier books in the series. Their conflict is also understandable considering Kenny’s fears and I really like how Bailey was not afraid to speak up about her feelings when he pulled away.
Yours for Christmas is a very charming romance that fans of Susan Mallery’s Fool’s Gold series are going to love. This enchanting story is quite engaging and full of heartwarming holiday cheer. As always, it is a true delight catching up with characters from previous novels and in true Fool’s Gold fashion, the whole community pulls together and works a little holiday magic when needed. It is another warm and entertaining addition to a beloved series that I highly recommend.

Another Christmas in Fool's Gold

Bailey and Kenny have been circling each other for the last trilogy of books. This is their story.
After an obligatory Mayor Marsha intervention, Bailey and Kenny are conscripted into heading the toy drive for the Future Warriors of Maa-zib, FG's version of the Girl Scouts. Chloe, Bailey's daughter, is a FWM, and she is utterly precious. Anyway, Bailey and Kenny are attracted to each other, but face some obstacles. Bailey thinks she isn't in Kenny's league, as she is a "normal" mom, and his normal type is a supermodel. Kenny has some demons to face when it comes to dating someone with a child. Despite the misgivings on both sides, they spend time together.
Yes, they spend time together. They go furniture shopping. Bailey inexplicably invites Kenny along to her home inspection(this is like their first real interaction. It was weird.) Kenny organizes the masses to help Bailey move. They go on a triple date, and a Christmas party. All very Fool's Goldish. Bless their hearts, these two have about zero chemistry. The extent of the love scenes in Yours for Christmas is two kisses. That's it. Apparently the author didn't feel very inspired by these two, either.
We have the Christmas parade, the visit to every shop in town, we catch up with the couples from the last trilogy, the town rallies to prove how wonderful and nice it is, we meet new suspects for upcoming novels....It all has a feeling of been there, done that. Don't get me wrong - the story is heartwarming and sweet, I guess, but frankly, would have worked better as a Fool's Gold catch up novel, sans romance. Well, it was sans romance, but I'm not sure it was on purpose.
If you are a FG addict, you will want to read this. If you are new to the series, don't start here.
Bottom line - this was a 3.5 star read for me, rounded up. I liked the catch up part (4 stars), but the romance was just okay(3 stars). That said, a not-her-best-work Susan Mallery novel is still pretty good reading. If you are looking for a no-steam-at-all, very sweet romance/FG visit, this will work for you.
