Beautifully horrible

Loved this collection. Felt so close to each character. Every story is filled with vulnerability and intimacy. I love it all, but I think my favorite is Lizzy & Annie, especially the ending *swoon*. Some of the stories hit me with such a hard punch. Other Women was extremely difficult and painful to read. How To Stay Friends was more relatable than I'd like. Honestly, most of it felt like home in a way that's like someone you love rubbing your back as you puke into your own toilet.

As a trans woman, this felt really important to me to have in my life. It repeatedly made me cry in a very cathartic sort of way. Aren't enough stars for this.

I sooooooo loved this book. Casey Plett's writing takes us on a journey with her characters...I felt I personally knew each character and the end of each story left me wanting to know more. I found this book so engaging, carrying on with it long after I usually turn the lights out at the end of the day. I couldn't put it down. Read this book! You'll love it!!

How To Make The Most Of A Short Story Collection

I love this book so much. It's rare to find a short story collection in which each story is really enriched by the stories around it. Alone, each story in this book is beautiful and moving. And so many made me cry, but I smiled a lot too, and I love it when a story makes me do both. Together, the stories really demonstrate something that should be totally obvious but maybe isn't: being a trans woman isn't just one thing. There's not one single trans experience. For anyone, trans or cis or whatever, experience is shaped by so many things other than just gender. Parents, place, etc. And there are just so many different experiences that run so much deeper than "oh hey I'm trans." This book so effortlessly deals with place and, in stories set all over the US and Canada, shows how place can impact a person's life. More specifically, attention is paid to, ummm, let's say the climate of acceptance? in each place. Small towns. Big cities. And family. And friends. And work. And cats. And just the tiniest nuances in everyday life and how they can impact experience. But the book never loses sight of the characters in all of this; it shapes them in this. Ugh. I don't even know how to tell you how perfect this book is.

Worst textbook ever

I am a student nurse anesthetist. This review is meant to be a generalized opinion review. I bought this book because it was required for our program. This pharmacology book, in short, is terrible. It seems as though no one actually edited it. There is tons of wrong information (for example, stating adult doses of morphine to be 2.5-5 mg/kg!), plenty of spelling errors, and horrendous use of the English language in general. The grammar and sentence construction throughout this book is very poor. Like I said, it is almost as if no one edited it! I am very disappointed in this book. It has the potential to be very good, but will need serious revisions, including a more rigorous and scrutinizing editorial process to ensure that the information provided to learning students is as accurate as possible. All of my classmates would probably agree with you, including our faculty. In fact, I'm pretty sure they are not going to be using this book next year for the pharmacology course in their CRNA program. There may be a small number of chapters that are not too bad, but overall, this book gets an 'F' from me. Oh, and not to mention, the binding completely falls apart! I had to have the book rebound (spiral bound), because otherwise I was holding it together with multiple large clips. Several other classmates have had to do the same.

Needs to focus on doing 1 thing well, rather than a lot of things poorly

When it comes to a pharmacology book, you want one that is 1) up to-date, 2) presents evidence-based basis for use of medications 3) Remains as focused as possible. The only thing I can confidently say this book does well is present up-to-date material (something Stoetling's Pharm and Phys does NOT do). After that, the rest of the book is average, at best.

One problem I find with most Nurse Anesthesia-specific texts is that they try to cover a lot of topical areas, without doing any of it well. They get wordy, lack order, focus, and try to cover every possible caveat of a topic --- meanwhile, with this structure, they fail to do a good job at any of it, and instead do an average job at all of it. Nagelhout's Nurse Anesthesia text is the epitome of this.

This first edition book by Ouellette & Joyce has a lot of room for improvement. It tries to become a physiology book, anatomy book, pharmacology book, and chemistry book all-in-one. In doing so, it forgets that it is a pharmacology book. It loses focus, and as a result it doesn't get in very great detail in any topic. I admit, you cannot be learn pharmacology without knowing all of the other clinical sciences. But don't attempt to teach all of those topics when your focus is pharmacology. Stoetling's Pharm & Physiology for Anesthetic Practice, despite presenting material that is old as dirt, does an excellent job at presenting clinical science material at appropriate times.

The two main texts for pharmacology in anesthesia are Stoetling's and this one by Ouellete and Joyce. This one is newer, but is of poorer quality. Stoelting's, despite being published in 2006, presents material from the early 90s (at times I was expecting it to go into detail in how to do the open-drip method of ether administration). However, Stoetling manages to do this quite well. In contrast, Oullette presents new material poorly. It relies way too much on poorly constructed diagrams and charts, without having the backbone material to support it.

This book does present something better than Stoelting's, however: Nausea & Vomiting. This is because of exclusion by Stoelting in his book, and not because Oullete & Joyce did a quality job.

I do not recommend this book. For every chapter in the book, there is a better resource out there. This book needs to focus on doing one thing well, rather than a lot of things poorly.

Needs a lot of work

This book needs a lot of work, but it has potential to be very good. I read it from cover to cover and like the fact that it is fairly easy to read with short chapters. However, it looks completely unedited with grammatical errors, misspelled words, and some completely wrong information. The latter is the more discouraging. For example, I do not think that having a decreased amount of carbon monoxide in your blood is a cause of heart failure...I'm just saying....

5 stars but may never read another of Mathews stories.

He had a really really good story going. Hot. Full of hot sex. A man and wife who love each other, communicate, and trust each other. Exploring their fantasies that they shared with each other and it drove off abIf a cliff for no reason what so ever. It added nothing to the story and actually ruined what had been a very good story.

The ending to this story is devastatingly disappointing and so unrealistic that it is unfathomable. It is disgusting that so little thought could be given to a spouse and treated with such abject disrespect and dishonesty with what they had going.

You will have to read this story for yourself to know for sure how you feel and I encourage you to do so. Just be prepared at the end. This author has just ruined any future I have for reading his stories because he did not give any warning or hint in the book synopsis and bent all rules of reality and believability. Unfortunately Mathew Lee has been removed from my follow list. That is how strongly I object to the hoodwink he pulled at the end of this story.

Lee at His Most Intense

You have to know going into a Matthew Lee book that the story is going to feature cuckolding, and Lee's novellas have, over time, become more intense in pursuing this particular kink. With that understanding, there isn't another author who handles this subject matter more directly and erotically than Lee. Vanessa is a beautiful wife whose husband Scott has long tried to interest her in a more open lifestyle. Her resistance, inevitably, crumbles; while on vacation Scott gets more than he ever dreamed of. (To be picky, there's a hot tub scene that walks very much the same ground as a hot tub scene in Lee's earlier novella "Vegas Heat." Both are excellent scenes--and both intense cuckold moments--but the overlap needs to be noted.) As in Lee's last novella, "An Egg in the Nest," the wife is much much in charge of the couple and pushes her husband beyond what he believed to be his limits. In this book, Vanessa pushes the envelope to what some will consider an unconscionable length--and they have an argument. But that's the intensity of Lee's work, and for those who appreciate that intensity, his work always satisfies.

WOW... hated the end!

WOW...I hated the ending... The wife took his kink and used as an excuse to act like a slut and to abuse him. At the end... he should have walked away, that is NOT a trusting safe relationship for him. At the end... what she did... it was just cruel..and her excuse was something she asked for.

Great Money magic book!

i love this book. it has some very good tricks using coins and bills, which are extremly easy. very clear instructions. no skill nedded to do these tricks. it even has the misers dream in here. i recomend this book to the beggining magician intrested in money magic. you will learn alot.

Karl Fulves must have had a bad day when he wrote this plop.

If you think asking someone if they know where a certain word appears on a dollar bill is a magic trick, then this book is for you. Saying "where does an anagram of White Snow appear on a dollar" and then when they give up you point it out - is NOT MAGIC. It's not even a trick. Its just a rather sad puzzle or riddle.
Most of the tricks in this book are that bad. A lot of them don't take more than 2 lines to explain in the book.
There are a few good coin tricks, but they aren't 'self working' and involve palming. Some of the tricks aren't even coin tricks, they use bills. So its really money stunts.
If this book had been called "80 stunts that are rather cack and a couple of tricks that need some practise" it might have been more honest - but then it wouldn't have sold.
Fulves self working card trick books are awesome, but when it comes to coin magic he seems fairly clueless.

Such a fun little fan novel

Such a fun little fan novel. It was great to look back at the Fall In Love tour, and read about how the three authors got their start. I even got to see myself in the video and photograph at the end, my books with their blue sticky notes even made a debut in the video. This is a great little novella for anyone that is fans of these three ladies.

I really enjoyed this delve into the personal lives of three of my favorite authors! Loved the photos, but I couldn't get the video to play on ANY device---I have two Kindle Fires, an Android phone app, and of course the desktop app. So that part was disappointing. But I liked everything else.

too much outdated information

Ok text book, but needs an update in the worst way. Too much film screen and not enough digital. Film screen is virtually history now, in fact there are almost no questions on the registry regarding film screen.

I know Mr. Bushong is predisposed with other life issues, but if they don't get with the program, some other text book will knock this off the pedestal

Received the wrong edition :(

I paid very little for this book, so I really can't be too upset. However, I ordered the 9th edition to study from and instead I received the 3rd edition. This wouldn't have been an issue except this edition is so outdated that the chapters I need are not included. :( I'm just going to donate this to the school and try again.
